My classroom rules include:
- Show Respect
- Make Good Decisions
- Solve Problems
When I taught middle school, I helped each class of students defines for themselves exactly what these mean. As a class, students define words, such as "respect," and describe what the words look and sound like. T-charts hang up in the classroom through out the year. Occassionally, classes pick new words to define and focus on.

Posters hanging in the room remind students of procedures I have specifically taught to them.
These include jobs of team memebers and noise levels the room should be at for various activities.

Areas of the classroom are organized for student use.
Students know where to hand in work (pictured here: in-boxes color-coded by class period), where to find missing work, and where to look to read school announcements.

Organization, maintainence, and inventory of supplies.
Before and after lab activities, student groups are responsible for checking in and out supplies. This picture shows lab group boxes I use sometimes to keep supplies for specific labs organized.
